wastered

The WASTEred project aims to promote the use and encourage the market penetration of LODOred, a new and ECO-Innovative product, in the food industry (slaughterhouses, meat processing and dairy companies) in order to reduce the large amounts of sewage sludge generated in their wastewater treatment plants. The expected reduction will decrease the environmental impact of these sectors, as well as the costs associated to the sludge management.

22-26.03.2010 - FIAB & WASTEred will be in Feria Alimentaria Barcelona 2010, Spain
The next March, between the 22th and the 26th, a new edition of Alimentaria Barcelona 2010 will be held at Fira de Barcelona (Spain). This fair is the most important event in the Spanish food and beverage sectors and one of the most important in the world. A congregation of over 4,000 companies and an attendance of 155,000 people from 155 countries is expected.
The fair will include a wide and varied program of activities and meetings where commercial, scientific and technological trends in the sector will be set out. Moreover, Alimentaria Barcelona 2010 will host some events such as the VIII International Forum of Food, the VIII Congress of the Mediterranean Diet, Innoval and the presentation of several international projects.
The Spanish Federation of Food and Drinks Industries (FIAB), among other activities detailed in their programme, will present the European project which they participate as a partner: "WASTEred: waste reduction and process optimization in the European meat and dairy industries", tapping the assistance of numerous companies from the meat and dairy sector. The impact that the event will have will be very important for the dissemination of the project, whose main objective is the launch of LODOred to meat and dairy industries, an innovative product that decreases the surplus sludge generated during the sewage treatment in activated sludge biological treatment plants. The successful use of LODOred is already widespread in municipal waste water treatment plants in Poland, Spain, Switzerland and Germany.
